OOPART (ENGLISH)





Oopart is a term that comes from the English acronym "Out Of Place Artifacts" (objects or artifacts out of place). It was coined by the American naturalist and cryptozoologist Ivan Sanderson to give a name to a category of objects that seem to have a difficult historical context, i.e. they would be an anachronism. All those archaeological or paleontological finds that, according to common beliefs about the past, it is assumed they could not have existed in the age to which they relate the initial dating, are classified as oopart.
